Weekend Schedule

All walks in State Parks are FREE to Fun Walkers and $3 for AVA Book Stampers. The Hitchcock Nature Center walk is $3 for all walkers, plus a $3 vehicle fee.

Friday, October 2nd, 1:00 p.m. – Lake Anita State Park, 5k and 10k Walk, 55111 750th St, Anita, IA 50020

Start at Picnic Shelter #5 between 1 and 3 p.m. Off the trail by 4:30.  Trail rated 2A.  This walk features a paved trail and park roads, with a short, well-groomed grass nature trail. Beautiful tree lined trails and views of the lake with natural water lily ponds.  Camping available.

Friday, October 2nd, 5:00 p.m. – Meet and Greet at Emma Jean’s Restaurant,  2117 Antique City Dr, Walnut, IA 51577

Small town charm and good cooking provide a great way to for us to sit down and meet one another! The staff needs an estimated head count to provide us with enough food, so indicate on the registration form whether you prefer the buffet ($12.95 plus tax, drinks and gratuity) or to order from the menu.  Buffet includes a soup and salad bar, broasted chicken plus another meat, mac & cheese, stuffing and desserts.  You will pay for your own meal at the restaurant when you eat.

Saturday, October 3rd, 8:00 a.m. – Prairie Rose State Park, 5k and 10k Walk, 680 Rd M47, Harlan, IA 51537

Start at Eagle’s Nest Cabin between 8 and 10 a.m. Off the trail by 1 p.m.  Trail rated 2B.  This nature walk follows the edges of Prairie Rose Lake on mostly well-groom trails, park roads and boardwalk.  Camping available.

Saturday, October 3rd, Lunch – Food Truck(s) at Lake Manawa State Park, 1100 S Shore Dr, Council Bluffs, IA 51501

We’ll have more information on food available as our vendors firm up details with us, closer to the event.

Note: Out-of-state vehicles will not have to pay the normal $5 Park Admission Fee if attending today’s walk.

Start at Picnic Shelter between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Off the trail by 5 p.m. Trail rated 1A.  You’ll walk on paved roads, grassy paths and paved bike trails past picnic shelters, a playground, beach and concession area and wooded areas. 10k extends the walk into housing area on eastern shore.

Social time. Cash bar available. Maybe a sneak peek at the 2021 Annual Convention in Wisconsin? Reconnect with friends and relax after a long day of walking!

Saturday, October 4th, 5:30 p.m. – North Central Regional Meeting at Dodge Riverside Golf Club, 2 Harrah’s Blvd, Council Bluffs, IA 51501

Business meeting, including remarks from honored guests and presentations of awards to clubs and individuals.

Saturday, October 3rd, 6:30 p.m.Dinner and Storytelling at Dodge Riverside Golf Club, 2 Harrah’s Blvd, Council Bluffs, IA 51501

By prepaid reservation only! Please indicate on the registration form your choice of entree and dessert.  Menu choices here.  Gourmet dinner with attentive table service, followed by stories by a member of OOPS (Omaha Organization for the Purpose of Storytelling).

Sunday, October 4th, 9 a.m. – Hitchcock Nature Center 5k and 10k Walk, 27792 Ski Hill Loop, Honey Creek, IA 51542

Note: All vehicles must pay a $3 vehicle fee to enter the park at the entrance kiosk. Exact change is required.

Trail rated 3B.  Challenge yourself with hiking trails that wind through Loess Hills woodlands, oak savannas and prairie remnants.  Carry water.  Sturdy shoes and walking sticks recommended. In case of rain, the trail will be moved to the boardwalk and along park roads. Camping available.
